What was your first vintage with cutting edge?

2010

What made you want to work for CES?

I was basically recruited out of my restaurant management position by a rep who was looking to retire from his position in a few years (Mark Maher hired me pretty immediately, after I interviewed with him, years ago).

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love introducing people to new, unique wines (& regions) that they may have never heard of or tried before. I love watching people’s eyes light up when they try something new that blows their mind.

Also – I have a knack for naturally picking new, fun, interesting, high quality wines for people that I know they will love! 🥂

What is your favorite wine on a snow day?

Champagne (sounds slightly oxymoronic - but Champagne all day, everyday)!

What is your most random fact?

Personally - probably the fact that I was a professional waterskier for years &/or that I am a professional singer/musician…. In the random nonsense category: The wood frog (of Alaska) can hold its pee for up to 8 months…. Also - cotton candy was invented by a dentist (talk about a racket)…

What was your 'light bulb' wine experience?

Luciano Sandone “Le Vigne” Barolo (back in the day, when I was just starting out with Cutting Edge - This one made me realize that wine was so much more than “just fermented grape juice that tasted pretty good with food”

What is your desert island wine?

Domaine des Baumard Savennieres

What is your favorite book?

The Fountainhead (Ayn Rand); I‘m a fan of thinking outside the box & challenging “conventional viewpoints.”

Who most inspires you?

I am inspired daily, by many people (I believe we have something to learn from everyone, and if we take the time to listen, develop human connection, respect diversity of thought & opinion, and think outside of our own microcosmic self-bubbles, in order to consider things from different perspectives (etc.), it inspires growth (both individually & interpersonally); I also believe we grow & become better versions of ourselves, when we make an effort to be better to others.

What was the last moment that took your breath away?

I’m lucky to have experienced many in life…. Canyoning in Interlaken, Switzerland was pretty dope (canyoning consists of repelling down 250(+) ft. mountains/cliffs, jumping off 30-40 ft. waterfalls, sliding down natural rock slides & repelling over ravines, in order to make your way down the mountains, & through the gorges that separate these massive & impressive structures)…. I highly recommend it - it’s an awesome time….
