FIRST VINTAGE WITH CUTTING EDGE?
2022
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE IN THE WINE/RESTAURANT INDUSTRY AND HOW DID THIS EXPERIENCE SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS AT CES?
I have over 24 years in the wine industry…first working my way up to managing a fine wine shop within third-generation gourmet grocery West Point Market and secondly being a sales rep for two Ohio distributors.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINE REGION AND WHY?
Probably the Rhône. So many things to explore. Waiting for a northern Rhône Syrah to open up and express itself or sipping a lovely Cotes du Rhône while making dinner are both enjoyable. Once I got the pleasure of tasting a few aged Hermitage Blancs at an event and was blown away by their seductive beauty.
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST EXPERIENCE ON A WINE TRIP?
I was honored to be invited on the Jorge Ordonez trip to Spain with CES years ago. We visited so many regions, tasted delicious wines, and made friends that I still contact today. The last day in Madrid we had lunch at a Michelin star restaurant and the last course was Alvear Pedro Ximenez 1927 sherry paired with foie gras and fruited chutney. Utter decadence!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
Blood, Bones, and Butter by Prune chef and cookbook author Gabrielle Hamilton…a collection of raw, poignant stories of her rise to success. The cookbook is pretty amazing as well.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?
Gloria the original with Gena Rowlands. I love how her tough exterior shell is whittled down by the young boy she unexpectedly has to protect.
Or My Cousin Vinny because it’s ridiculous.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL WAY TO SPEND A DAY OFF?
Cooking a lovely meal or spending time with friends and family.
WHAT WINE BEST REFLECTS YOUR PERSONALITY?
Probably an old vine Garnacha. A little bit in your face with a spicy, memorable finish.
