What was your first vintage with Cutting Edge?

What other experience do you have in the wine/restaurant industry? How did this experience set you up for success at CES?

I have worked in the wine/restaurant industry my whole professional life, the majority of which was in restaurants. The skill sets are very similar: knowledge of the product, attention to detail, ability to build relationships, ability to communicate, honesty, discipline and a certain amount of independence.

What made you want to work for CES?

In addition to the reputation of CES as well as the breath and depth of the portfolio, it was my initial interview with Steve and Eric which gave me a profound sense of confidence in the company.

What was your 'light bulb' wine experience?

Domaine des Baumard Clos Ste.-Catherine.

What was your best wine trip/experience?

Piedmont—I have a soft spot in my heart for Italy. Although I lived in Italy for a number of years, my focus was not wine at that time. This trip was the first time I had the opportunity to walk in vineyards, to be in a wine cellar, to see a bottling line, and to be with people who were as passionate about wine as I am. It was eye opening—after all the years of selling wine, I finally got to experience where the grapes were grown and the wine was made.

What is your favorite author?

Louise Penny. Although her genre is murder mysteries, she writes beautifully. Love her characters, look forward to every new release.

If you could share a bottle of your favorite wine with any person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

My sister is my favorite person with whom to share a special bottle of wine. I don’t get to see her very often. When we do get together, we cook and drink.

What was your first concert?

Verdi’s Aida
