First vintage at cutting edge?

2024

what is your ideal way to spend a day off?

Spending time in our vegetable garden while cranking some great music from the shed. Then it would be followed up with cooking a great meal and spending time with my beautiful wife and two kids.  The evening would be capped off with drinking great Champagne and rehearsing with our band, Tulip Boom.

what wine or region best reflects your personality?

Probably lighter red wines from Alto Piemonte.

what historical figure would you most like to share a bottle with?

I would love to share a great bottle with John F. Kennedy.

what was your lightbulb wine experience?

My parents took me to Spain after I graduated High School. We stayed in Jerez and visited Bodegas Hidalgo. It was hands down the moment when wine started to resonate with me and strike a chord.

what made you want to work at cutting edge?

The amazing portfolio, the people and the culture. CES is one of the last remaining, family-owned companies in the Ohio wine industry. I got to know Mark Maher in my early years of the wine business and was drawn by his charisma and the culture he created at CES. Iā€™m so grateful to be a part of this community now.

what is one place in the world you would like to visit (not for wine)?

Kyoto, Japan. Enough said!

what is your favorite wine region and what do you love about it?

Piemonte, Italy. I absolutely love the different iterations of Nebbiolo, and I appreciate both the traditional and modern techniques from various producers. When I first visited in 2012, it was a life changing experience for me.

who is your favorite author?

It probably comes down to Tolkien or Michael Crichton.

what is your favorite work of fiction (in any medium) and why?

Breaking Bad is the all-time greatest show ever produced. My wife and I binged the first 4 seasons within the first 2 weeks of our first child being born. The last season was epic and worth revisiting every couple of years.
